The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.
The process of pastor search is both simple and important. It will include:
Forming a pastor search team (the congregation will have input into the selection of this team) Preparing the team for the actual pastoral search process (which Pastor Don will do through training) The team will develop a Job Description and a profile of the Pastor that they believe God will lead to GSBC (The Congregation will have input into this profile) The team will then gather information on potential pastoral candidates (possibly seeking recommendations from trusted sources)
- The team will interview & screen candidates for pastor (this will be done confidentially)
- After sensing God’s leading, the team will present a potential candidate to the church for approval (through a vote of the church membership)
The Search Team received training and started the process of defining a Pastoral Profile and Job Description. The team is currently meeting weekly and also meeting consistently at a separate time specifically for prayer. The Team covets your prayer during this process. The team also solicited congregational input on the pastoral profile via a survey in January.
Once the Job Description is complete, the next phase of the process will include gathering resumes of potential Pastoral Candidates.
